About

Hi, my name is William Eck. This blog contains my short stories and essays. I will also post updates about my work, e.g. when I publish things, am published in an anthology, etc.

I mostly write science fiction, weird fiction, and horror. Occasionally I deign to write straightforward literary fiction, but I try not to make a habit of it. I’d like to branch out into other genres in the future, but this is my focus for now.

Telling stories has always been a passion of mine. I started writing fiction when I was five years old. Twenty-or-so years later, I decided to start a blog for “short shorts,” i.e. stories of 300-500 words each. I bought the domain and promptly forgot all about it until six months later, when I wrote and published my first story on this blog, “Whatever They Like.” I didn’t think anybody would read it, but after a few hours, a couple of people “liked” the story and someone even left a comment. Two days later, I published another story, “The Atheist at the Machine.” The rest is history (or not––we’ll see!).

All writing on this blog is my own work, copyright 2014-2015. Images on this blog are either my own creation, in the public domain, or licensed under a Creative Commons or similar license. If I’ve attributed an image in error, please let me know.
